Water electrolyzers are electrochemical devices used to split water into its constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen, by passage of an electrical current. There are four main types of electrolyzers: alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers are already mature, while anion exchange membrane (AEM) and solid oxide electrolyzers are still under development. These technologies differ in numerous ways, most notably in cell design and variations within components. Air Liquide inaugurates 20MW electrolyser in Oberhausen

On 26 August, Air Liquide inaugurated its 20MW electrolyser at its Oberhausen site in Germany. The plant is connected to Air Liquide’s existing hydrogen pipeline, allowing it to supply key industries and zero-emission mobility in the Rhine and Ruhr area with up to 2,900 tons of green hydrogen annually.

ITM Power signs supply contract for REFHYNE II project

ITM Power has announced the signing of a contract for the REFHYNE II project, following Shell’s recent positive Final Investment Decision (FID). ITM will supply 100 MW of TRIDENT stacks and skids to the Shell Rheinland Energy and Chemicals Park in Germany. Linde Engineering has been chosen as the EPC integrator and will collaborate closely with ITM.
