Hymeth unveils 25-kW alkaline electrolyzer with enhanced efficiency

Swedish start-up Hymeth has unveiled its new 25-kW alkaline electrolyzer. Building on its 5-kW system, which achieved a 67% efficiency rate in September 2023, the latest model demonstrates a 4–10% efficiency improvement, bringing the overall stack efficiency to 70–74%.

In addition to its efficiency gains, the latest model of the low-temperature, high-pressure electrolyzer is more cost-effective, lighter, and more compact than its predecessor.

“We’re thrilled to unveil our new 25 kW electrolyzer, which is a testament to our team’s dedication and innovation,” said Mats Blacker, CEO of Hymeth. “These advancements are not just about improving efficiency – they represent our commitment to making hydrogen production more accessible, affordable, and impactful on a global scale. This is a significant milestone in our journey to reshape the future of energy.”

The 25-kW system is scheduled for delivery to the company’s second customer. As production scales up, the enhanced electrolyzer technology will be showcased in larger-scale applications over the coming weeks.
