Water electrolyzers are electrochemical devices used to split water into its constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen, by passage of an electrical current. There are four main types of electrolyzers: alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers are already mature, while anion exchange membrane (AEM) and solid oxide electrolyzers are still under development. These technologies differ in numerous ways, most notably in cell design and variations within components. Gasunie has entered into a long-term frame agreement with Mokveld to supply control valves for its hydrogen delivery stations. This agreement is part of Gasunie’s plans to develop Hynetwork, a nationwide hydrogen network in the Netherlands.
Hygenco Green Energies, an Indian company developing and deploying green hydrogen and green ammonia assets, has announced a partnership with Topsoe as the licensor for its green ammonia plant in Gopalpur, Odisha, India.

This innovation eliminates the need for critical metals, membranes, and seals, paving the way for the mass production of virtually maintenance-free electrolysers.
High-performance materials specialist Syensqo has increased the production capacity for its Udel® polysulfones (PSU) sulfone polymers at its Marietta, Ohio, US, facility by more than 25%. These polymers are used in critical health, water, and energy applications, including green hydrogen production systems.
Sunfire will deliver 50 MW of electrolyzer capacity for Ren-Gas’s e-methane plant in Tampere, Finland. The delivery will comprise five 10 MW pressurized alkaline electrolysis modules, which will play a pivotal role in converting renewable electricity into green hydrogen for e-methane production.
Hystar today hosted an event at the Kårstø Gas Processing Plant in Rogaland, Norway, to formally open its field project, HyPilot. The Kårstø plant is hosting the HyPilot project at its K-Lab test centre. HyPilot is the in-field demonstration of Hystar’s 1.5-MW containerized PEM electrolyser.
SolydEra and Dynelectro have transitioned from a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to a formal collaboration agreement, marking the start of a strategic partnership. This agreement aims to deliver a 1-MW solid oxide electrolyser by September 2025.
Uniper has selected Electric Hydrogen as its exclusive partner to design a 200-MW electrolyzer plant for large-scale electrolysis within Uniper’s Green Wilhelmshaven project in Northern Germany. Electric Hydrogen began conducting the preliminary front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) work for the project in October 2024.
