Water electrolyzers are electrochemical devices used to split water into its constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen, by passage of an electrical current. There are four main types of electrolyzers: alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers are already mature, while anion exchange membrane (AEM) and solid oxide electrolyzers are still under development. These technologies differ in numerous ways, most notably in cell design and variations within components. F2N Green Hydrogen Srl (FGH), an innovative Italian start-up based in Varese and specializing in water electrolysis technology, has announced the completion of the internal qualification tests and the commercial launch of their alkaline stack product line, CORNERSTONE.

CPH2 has announced the successful completion of Level 1 of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for its MFE110 electrolyser. This milestone represents the first of three sequential stages within the FAT, marking a significant step toward the MFE110 becoming a commercially accepted electrolyser.

HydrogenPro ASA has announced an investment in a new production line for its Gen3 electrodes, with an anticipated annual capacity of 90–100 MW. This will quadruple the company’s large electrode production capacity. Production is expected to commence in Q1 2025.
The European energy company VoltH2 has selected Sweco as its partner for the design and development of a new green hydrogen production plant in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The production facility has received the necessary permits and is currently in the design phase.
Plug Power has announced that it has secured an order for 25 MW of proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer systems for a customer in Europe. The project will employ five of Plug’s 5 MW containerized PEM electrolyzers to reduce the carbon footprint of the company by using green hydrogen.
On 18 June, the cornerstone for Elcogen’s new factory was laid in the Loovälja Industrial Park near Tallinn. The 14,000 m² factory will significantly increase the company’s current production capacity of solid oxide cells and stacks to meet the growing global demand for emission-free energy and green hydrogen-producing fuel cells.
