HyPSTER, the first renewable hydrogen storage demonstrator in a salt cavern, was inaugurated on 15 September in Etrez, France. The project paves the way for the creation of an industrial-scale renewable hydrogen storage sector and technical and economic replicability to other sites in Europe.

Hexagon Purus today opened its new hydrogen cylinder manufacturing hub in Kassel, Germany. The new 83,000 ft² facility can support annual production of more than 40,000 type 4 high-pressure hydrogen cylinders for fuel cell electric mobility and hydrogen infrastructure applications.

Luxfer Gas Cylinders has announced an investment of over £1 million in its European base in Nottingham, where it will establish a new production facility to support ‘virtual’ gas pipelines that can distribute hydrogen across the UK and Europe. Production there is scheduled to commence in summer 2024.

Plastic Omnium has announced plans to build North America’s largest hydrogen storage manufacturing plant in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan. The facility will produce high-pressure hydrogen storage systems for medium- and heavy-duty zero-emissions vehicles, serving a major American automaker.

GTT has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) from the Japanese classification society ClassNK for a new concept of a scalable membrane type containment system that can be adapted to any size of liquified hydrogen (LH₂) carrier without major design modifications, as well as for the cargo handling system.

Energy infrastructure company Gasunie has taken the investment decision for the first part of its national hydrogen network. The investment of this first section exceeds €100 million and is being developed by Gasunie’s subsidiary Hynetwork Services. Work will start after the summer in Rotterdam.

Luxfer Gas Cylinders has launched the G-Stor™ Pro Bundle, a multiple-cylinder package for transportation of small to medium volumes of hydrogen. This modular, interconnected system comprises the company’s Type 3 G-Stor™ hydrogen cylinders, which are stacked horizontally.

Provaris Energy has launched a bulk-scale gaseous hydrogen floating storage solution. Called H2Leo, the solution is suitable for various applications, including bunkering for the maritime sector, buffer storage for green hydrogen production, and long-duration storage for excess renewable energy.
