Water electrolyzers are electrochemical devices used to split water into its constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen, by passage of an electrical current. There are four main types of electrolyzers: alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers are already mature, while anion exchange membrane (AEM) and solid oxide electrolyzers are still under development. These technologies differ in numerous ways, most notably in cell design and variations within components. Nel has partnered with Hy Stor Energy on the Mississippi Clean Hydrogen Hub (MCHH) and received a capacity reservation for more than one gigawatt of alkaline electrolysers. The MCHH project will be the largest zero-carbon, off-grid hydrogen production and salt cavern storage hub in the United States.
Plug Power has signed two additional contracts to deliver Basic Engineering and Design Packages (BEDP) for projects in Europe and the United States, with a combined capacity of up to 350 MW of electrolyzers. These agreements enhance Plug’s overall BEDP portfolio, bringing the company’s total amount of global BEDP contracts to 4.5 GW.
Green Hydrogen Systems and BWSC, an international engineering company and service provider, have signed a strategic collaboration agreement to expand their collaboration on green hydrogen projects. This agreement is a continuation of the collaboration between the two companies on the installation of the X-Series prototype at GreenLab in Skive, Denmark.
Ohmium International has formed a strategic partnership with Tata Projects, with the aim of bolstering green hydrogen projects in India, combining innovative technology with proven engineering excellence. Ohmium will provide PEM electrolyzers while Tata Projects will manage the entire EPC process, including engineering, design, integration, and optimization.
Salzgitter AG and Uniper SE have signed a pre-contract for the supply and purchase of green hydrogen that covers, among other things, the technical and commercial framework conditions for the supply of hydrogen. The hydrogen is to be produced in the 200 MW electrolysis plant planned by Uniper in Wilhelmshaven
On 19 April, the go-ahead was given for the commissioning of the first grid-connected 5-MW hydrogen production plant in Bavaria at the site of the future hydrogen centre in Pfeffenhausen. Kraftanlagen Energies & Services SE has been appointed as general contractor for construction and commissioning.
Today, Lhyfe launched the Green Hydrogen Marketplace on its online portal, Lhyfe Heroes. This service brings green hydrogen producers and consumers closer together, facilitating access to this clean gas. The company began digitalizing the sector in 2022 with the Heroes platform, which is now featuring the Marketplace as its flagship service.
Ohmium International has announced a collaboration with Chilean company H2 Green Mining to develop green hydrogen projects to help decarbonize mining operations in the country. The two companies will collaborate on developing a 20 MW green hydrogen pilot project, with a potential to rapidly scale to 200 MW.
