Water electrolyzers are electrochemical devices used to split water into its constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen, by passage of an electrical current. There are four main types of electrolyzers: alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers are already mature, while anion exchange membrane (AEM) and solid oxide electrolyzers are still under development. These technologies differ in numerous ways, most notably in cell design and variations within components. First Ammonia has signed sales and service agreements with Topsoe for the fabrication of the first 100 MW of solid oxide electrolyzers for its green ammonia project at the Port of Victoria, Texas, set to commence commercial operation in 2027.

Luxfer Gas Cylinders and Hypermotive have partnered to offer an automated solution for managing hydrogen storage, filling, and distribution. Through this partnership, Hypermotive will develop a digital control system for pressurised hydrogen gas storage, based on their SYSTEM-H technology.
