Ecoclean starts series production of modular alkaline electrolyzers on megawatt scale

Ecoclean has recently launched series production of the EcoLyzer, a modular system for pressurized alkaline electrolysis. The robust, low-maintenance electrolyzers from this globally active company are available as scalable standalone solutions and turnkey systems, with outputs ranging from 1 to 20 MW.

After initially building a test bench for testing and validating electrolysis stacks with a diameter of up to 1,500 mm and a maximum output of 500 kW, as well as constructing an electrolysis demonstrator ready for series production, Ecoclean is now beginning series production of the EcoLyzer systems. The technology behind these compact electrolyzers is based on a system for pressurized alkaline electrolysis that has been developed and optimized by the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) over the last ten years.

A key advantage of this proven and robust technology is that it does not rely on scarce raw materials such as precious metals or rare earths. Designed as modular units, the electrolyzers can be used to build cost-efficient systems with outputs of 1 to 20 MW near energy generator (solar, wind, water) and are easily expandable. The modular principle allows for economical manufacturing and comparatively short delivery times of currently twelve months.

These robust and durable systems deliver high gas quality and standard system pressures of up to 30 bar. Recognizing that not every application requires a gas pressure of 30 bar or more, Ecoclean is expanding its product range to include atmospheric-pressure alkaline electrolyzers. This addition offers cost advantages, especially for higher outputs.
