Water electrolyzers are electrochemical devices used to split water into its constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen, by passage of an electrical current. There are four main types of electrolyzers: alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers are already mature, while anion exchange membrane (AEM) and solid oxide electrolyzers are still under development. These technologies differ in numerous ways, most notably in cell design and variations within components. ITM Power has launched the Hybrid Stack, which provides existing customers operating earlier MEP generation products with the opportunity to achieve a circa 10% efficiency boost. The solution makes advancements incorporated into the company’s latest TRIDENT stack platform available to earlier MEP generation electrolysers.

NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) has received its first delivery of wind turbines at the Port of NEOM in northwest Saudi Arabia. The turbines are now being transported via road to the Wind Garden site near Gulf of Aqaba where they will be assembled and installed.
Ceres has announced that its solid oxide electrolyser is producing hydrogen at partner AVL’s site in Germany. The 1 MW electrolyser, which the company claims to be capable of delivering green hydrogen at <40kWh/kg, is in the final stages of commissioning, on track to reach factory acceptance testing in the coming weeks.
Black & Veatch has conducted a feasibility study for Augustus Global Investment (AGI) on the generation of green hydrogen in Indonesia, concluding that the project can be technically and economically feasible and has the potential to significantly contribute to Indonesia’s energy transition.
HydrogenPro announced today the purchase of 18 units of its 5.5 MW cell stacks with a total capacity of 100 MW from ANDRITZ GROUP. Previously disclosed in a stock exchange notice dated 20 September 2023, the order has been finalized between the parties, with the contract valued at approximately €18 million.
Enapter has delivered the first model of its new AEM Flex 120 electrolyser to ABC-Klinkergruppe in Hörstel, Germany. The innovative system is expected to be up and running by the end of year, with the German brick producer planning to immediately start decarbonising its manufacturing processes.
Elcogen and Genvia have signed a supply and R&D collaboration agreement, which follows two years of cooperation between the companies and strengthens their collaboration in solid oxide electrolyzer commercialization, enabling them to work towards achieving their goals under the IPCEI programme.
