The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has revealed the winners of the first Danish Power-to-X (PtX) tender. The six winning projects, to be developed by four different companies, will collectively receive DKK 1.25 billion (€167 million) of state aid to establish a total electrolysis capacity exceeding 280 MW.

Next Hydrogen has met its energy efficiency targets for its ‘GEN2’ water electrolyzer technology, achieving its target cell performance of 1.90 V/cell at 1 A/cm² and 70°C. This surpasses the 2024 and 2026 performance targets for alkaline water electrolysis set by the US Department of Energy.

ABB has joined the HyPilot project – the in-field demonstration of Hystar’s 1 MW containerized PEM electrolysers, to verify Hystar’s technology under realistic field conditions. ABB is supplying critical power technology that enables precise voltage and current control to simulate various operating regimes.

John Cockerill Hydrogen has announced its entry into the US market with the acquisition of manufacturing space in Baytown, Texas, for a new gigafactory. The facility is expected to create 200 new jobs and produce 1 GW of electrolyzers annually. Production is expected to begin in Q3 2024.

NextHeat, an engineering company specializing in hydrogen combustion and process heat, and Stargate Hydrogen, a manufacturer of alkaline electrolyzer stacks and systems, have announced their collaboration to decarbonize the industrial sector by replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen.

Swedish electrolyzer start-up Hymeth has reported the successful completion of the first site acceptance test (SAT) of its low-temperature alkaline electrolyzer technology. The test was conducted at Nilsson Energy in Gothenburg, Sweden, showcasing several promising features of Hymeth’s technology.

McPhy Energy and Stargate Hydrogen have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines the intent of both companies to work together on employing the ceramic technology designed by Stargate in large-scale alkaline electrolysis, as well as to improve the reliability of components of electrolysis systems.

ITM Power announced today that it is commencing bidding into projects in the US market. This move allows the company to provide its electrolyser stack solutions in both CE and ASME regulated territories. Achieving this standardisation has been a significant milestone for ITM, facilitating a streamlined production process and supply chain, simplifying operations and enabling economies of scale.

Lhyfe is starting the construction of a hydrogen production plant in the German city of Schwäbisch Gmünd. This site, which is the largest green hydrogen plant in Baden-Württemberg, will be the first to supply hydrogen directly to an industrial park. Commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2024.
