SANY launches integrated gigawatt-grade alkaline electrolyzer

SANY Hydrogen, the hydrogen energy subsidiary of the heavy machinery manufacturer SANY Heavy Industry, has announced the launch of its latest green hydrogen production solution: the new S Series integrated GW-grade square electrolyzer, which is capable of producing 3,000 standard cubic meters (scm) of hydrogen per hour.

According to the company, its S Series 3,000-scm square electrolyzer has set a new industry benchmark with significantly lower system costs and an improved green electricity utilization rate, making it a practical solution for large-scale applications. It boasts an operational current density of 10,000 A/m², ensuring high production efficiency. Additionally, it improves the green electricity utilization rate by 10% and reduces maintenance costs by 30%.

SANY’s latest GW-grade offering leverages the fundamental strengths of the S Series lineup, which include a compact footprint, modular construction, increased current density, and pressurized operation, among other features, to pave a new path for the mass production and utilization of green hydrogen.

The 20 MW electrolyzer test platform developed by SANY Hydrogen has been deployed, laying a solid foundation for the company’s product development and rapid iteration.

Xiang Wenbo, rotating chairman of SANY, commented: “The new launch of GW-Grade solution and large-capacity electrolyzer represents the opening of a new chapter of SANY’s hydrogen technology development. With a strong commitment to a strategy of globalization, intelligent and digital-centric, and low-carbon transformation, SANY Group is focused on putting forward new solutions for various scaled hydrogen production scenarios from wind to green power and has successfully overcome the technical challenges of the large-scale electrolyzer and taken a solid step in the industrialization of hydrogen energy equipment.”
