ionysis signs third major technology development contract with German industry partner

Freiburg-based start-up ionysis has announced that it has secured a six-figure development contract for the integration and optimization of innovative materials in fuel cell membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs). The contract was awarded by ‘one of the top companies’ in the German hydrogen technology industry.

The main goal is to develop fuel cell MEAs for use in heavy-duty transport. The project focuses on both performance optimization for demanding heavy-duty operations and scaling ionysis’ CCM technology to full-format size.

With this latest contract, ionysis has surpassed €1.3 million in contract volume since its operational start in September 2022.

“The contract is of great strategic importance for us. Above all, the rapid scaling of new CCM compositions to full-format size is an important skill for the further development of our young company,” said Dr. Matthias Breitwieser, CTO and co-managing director of ionysis.
