HydrogenPro expands electrolyser production capacity in China to 500 MW

Norwegian-based HydrogenPro has successfully upgraded and significantly increased its electrolyser production capacity at the Tianjin plant in China. The recent expansion, consistent with the Q1 presentation earlier this year, has seen the capacity rise by 66%, reaching 500 MW from the previous 300 MW.

With this additional production unit in China, complementing planned units in the United States and Europe, and bolstered by a strategic partnership with Andritz, HydrogenPro is better positioned to address the increasing international demand for electrolysers and green hydrogen.

The company has already secured a substantial contract to supply 40 electrolysers to the world’s largest green hydrogen hub in the U.S. These advanced electrolysers are now being manufactured at the Tianjin facility.

Tarjei Johansen, CEO of HydrogenPro, commented: “We take pride in contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future. As our global presence continues to expand, and with significant achievements such as having the world’s largest high-pressure alkaline electrolyser, a contract with the world’s leading green hydrogen facility, and pioneering third-generation electrolyser technology, we are confident in our trajectory.

“Our focus now is on continuous growth and development, with a strong emphasis on timely deliveries. Our next milestone involves testing the efficiency improvement of our electrolysers, a step that holds the potential to enhance performance by 14 percent. This innovation will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the green hydrogen landscape.”
