thyssenkrupp nucera reserves production capacity for industrial customer

thyssenkrupp nucera and a European customer from a carbon-intensive industry have signed a reservation agreement for electrolyzer production capacities. Under this contract, the customer has secured production capacities for the manufacturing of standardized 20 MW alkaline water electrolysis modules.

The new customer will build a production plant that will use green hydrogen to manufacture green products in Europe. The two companies have agreed not to disclose further contract details.

This is the first time that a company has decided to use thyssenkrupp nucera’s offer to reserve its production capacities.

Dr. Christoph Noeres, Head of Green Hydrogen thyssenkrupp nucera AG & Co. KGaA, said: “The use of green hydrogen to decarbonize the industry is gaining significant momentum driven by American and European green hydrogen programs such as the Inflation Reduction Act and The REPowerEU plan. The ramp-up of the overall supply chain for our electrolyzers requires a close cooperation between the involved companies. We offer capacity reservation agreements which are an excellent example for the close collaboration needed to support the successful implementation of green hydrogen projects.”

thyssenkrupp nucera has more than 2.3 GW of electrolysis capacity under construction. This includes one of the largest green hydrogen projects in the world, a >2 GW electrolysis plant for Air Products in Saudi Arabia, and the delivery of Shell’s new 200 MW hydrogen facility in the Port of Rotterdam.
