KITZ announces proprietary PEM electrolyser

KITZ Corporation has announced plans to launch its first proprietary Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) water electrolysis hydrogen generation unit, signalling the company’s entry into the green hydrogen market.

The unit, designed to meet the needs of the Japanese market, will produce hydrogen from water using PEM technology. When combined with renewable energy sources, it is intended to enable hydrogen production with a low environmental impact.

KITZ has longstanding expertise in high-pressure and liquefied hydrogen valve technologies, and has established capabilities in designing, manufacturing, and engineering hydrogen stations and supply equipment. With the planned PEM unit, the company aims to expand beyond valve supply and provide total solutions that support hydrogen production, transportation, storage, and utilisation.

The first model, the KHG-PX100, is designed with a hydrogen output of 100 Nm³/h, a purity of at least 99.999% and a dew point below -65 °C. It can generate hydrogen at pressures up to 0.85 MPaG, with a power capacity of 700 kVA. The unit measures W2,438 × D13,716 × H2,896 mm and weighs approximately 25 tonnes.

KITZ stated that capacities up to 500 Nm³/h are planned. The units will be made to order, with pricing and delivery timelines yet to be determined.
