HydrogenPro announces new production line for Gen3 electrodes, quadrupling capacity

HydrogenPro ASA has announced an investment in a new production line for its Gen3 electrodes, with an anticipated annual capacity of 90–100 MW. This will quadruple the company’s large electrode production capacity. Production is expected to commence in Q1 2025.

Over a long period, the company has developed a unique Gen3 electrode technology, which enhances electrolyzer efficiency and reduces the Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH).

CEO Jarle Dragvik expressed his satisfaction with the decision, stating: “The technology that we have developed is unique and is now ready for commercialization. There is a very strong demand for this technology as we experience increased request for quotation of Gen 3 electrodes.  It is therefore a good timing for investing in order to deliver from 2025 and onward. With the very good results we have seen testing Gen3 electrodes, we are pleased to take this important step.”

The total investment for the new production line is estimated at NOK 70 million. The experience gained from this project will be crucial for the planning of a future ‘H2-GIGA factory.’ Earlier this year, HydrogenPro announced the approval of a grant from the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark for the planning of this factory.
