Lhyfe supplies France’s first motorway hydrogen station for HGVs

Lhyfe has supplied renewable hydrogen since November 2025 to France’s first motorway refueling station accessible to heavy goods vehicles, operated by TEAL Mobility on the A4 motorway.

The hydrogen refuelling station is located on the A4 motorway in France’s Grand Est region and is positioned to support long-distance freight transport along major east–west and north–south routes. Its location provides direct motorway access for heavy goods vehicles and connects strategic corridors linking France with Germany and the Benelux countries, enabling low-carbon mobility for cross-border logistics.

TEAL Mobility operates the station and sources renewable hydrogen from Lhyfe under a multi-year supply contract. Lhyfe currently operates four renewable hydrogen production sites across France and Germany, representing a combined installed capacity of 21 MW. The company has stated that its installed capacity is expected to increase by 70% in 2026.

In May 2025, Lhyfe became the first French producer to deliver hydrogen certified as Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin. Its four production sites obtained RFNBO certification between May and September 2025. The RFNBO standard is defined under the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive and is described as the most demanding European standard for green hydrogen produced via water electrolysis. According to the company, this positions Lhyfe as a leading European player in terms of RFNBO-certified hydrogen production and delivery capacity.

Hydrogen deliveries to the station are supported by Lhyfe’s logistics assets, including a fleet of 70 type-IV containers. The company said that this fleet, combined with more than four years of operational experience in the hydrogen supply chain, underpins its approach to reliable hydrogen delivery for mobility applications.

“Through this agreement with TEAL Mobility, we are now the leading operator of hydrogen stations for heavy goods vehicles in Europe,” said Matthieu Guesné, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lhyfe.

“The Reims Champagne Nord station is of particular importance for zero-emission goods transport in Europe,” he added. “It opens up a new route between Paris and the border countries of the north-east, where hydrogen mobility is already very dynamic.”
