Hydrogen Tech World Expo & Conference 2023:
a celebration of knowledge sharing
In early April, the inaugural edition of the Hydrogen Tech World Expo & Conference took place in Essen, Germany, alongside the Green Steel World Expo & Conference. Key industry players and thought leaders from these two emerging sectors gathered at Messe Essen for two days of learning, networking, and business opportunities.

As relatively new sectors, the topics surrounding renewable hydrogen and green steel production attracted an impressive number of visitors, all eager to gain insights, share concerns, and pose burning questions. In particular, the conference rooms for both events saw packed audiences, and interactions generated conversations about how each industry may progress and the major pain points in their way.
Hydrogen Tech World’s Conference Manager, Matjaž Matošec, summarised the event as “a resounding success and a celebration of knowledge sharing!” Matjaž expressed that the 24 outstanding and masterfully delivered presentations on a broad range of highly relevant technology-related topics were key to generating much-needed discussion in the hydrogen sector. “The audience size and level of active participation were a true testament to the strong community that we have built. During the breaks, the attendees engaged in lively discussions and networking, adding to the overall experience. Having set a solid foundation for future events, I am eagerly anticipating next year’s edition and look forward to watching the Hydrogen Tech World community grow and thrive!”
The enthusiasm was shared by Green Steel World’s Conference Manager, Tanya Rudra, who described what the success of the event really means: “It is a true testament to the fact that the steel industry is committed to addressing the challenges that lie ahead and is actively pursuing new and innovative solutions that will enable us to produce steel in a more sustainable and responsible manner.” Tanya went on to explain that the conference and expo offered an unmatched opportunity to interact with experts and learn about the latest technologies, initiatives, success stories and at the same time challenges, bottlenecks, and roadblocks for the industry. “We worked tirelessly to put this event together and it was heartening to see our hard work over the past year paid off.”
Overall, both events have proven valuable to their direct and associated industries and have established themselves as vital meeting points for future progression.
