Everfuel’s HySynergy facility achieves RFNBO certification

Everfuel has announced that its hydrogen production facility HySynergy in Fredericia, Denmark, has achieved RFNBO certification, officially recognising that it produces green hydrogen under the EU’s Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) framework.

The certification is the gold standard for green hydrogen under the EU’s RED II and RED III directives. It confirms that Everfuel’s hydrogen production from HySynergy meets the strict environmental and traceability criteria required to contribute to the EU’s binding renewable energy targets. Properties associated with the certification include more than 99% emissions reduction compared to fossil fuels, certification under ISCC ensuring full compliance with EU sustainability and GHG reduction criteria, strategic alignment with Fit-for-55, RePowerEU, and the Hydrogen Backbone initiative, new market access in Denmark, Germany, and Northern Europe for certified hydrogen supply, and the enabling of RFNBO production combined with the opportunity to engage in the power balancing market.

Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO and founder of Everfuel, commented: “This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our entire team and our partners. RFNBO certification not only validates our ambition of producing green hydrogen at scale – it also opens the door to long-term partnerships in industry and transport. Special thanks to our HySynergy partner and RFNBO customer Crossbridge Energy Fredericia A/S, whose collaboration has been instrumental in reaching this milestone.”
